Cork Grassland Services is expanding and we are looking for a passionate and ambitious Grassland Advisor to join our growing team.

This is an exciting opportunity to work at the cutting edge of grassland management and agricultural technology, helping progressive dairy farmers improve profitability and sustainability through better grassland management.

Using remote grass measuring technology and satellite data, our team supports dairy farmers across Ireland with accurate grass growth information and practical weekly grazing advice.

If you have a strong interest in grassland management, pasture-based systems and advisory work, this role offers the opportunity to work directly with farmers and help them maximise grass utilisation on their farms.

About Cork Grassland Services

Cork Grassland Services is a specialist grassland advisory company working with dairy farmers across Ireland to improve grass growth, grazing management and farm profitability.

Our service combines practical farm advisory experience with modern agricultural technology, allowing farmers to manage grass more accurately and make better decisions throughout the grazing season.

We work closely with progressive dairy farmers to deliver:

  • Weekly grassland management advice
  • Grazing planning and decision support
  • Feed budgeting and grass growth monitoring
  • Integration with PastureBase Ireland

Recently, Cork Grassland Services partnered with Proveye, an innovative AgTech company based in Dublin, to launch a remote grass measuring advisory service for farmers across Ireland.

Using satellite and radar technology, grass growth can now be measured remotely and combined with expert advisory support to help farmers make more informed grazing decisions each week.

This partnership allows Cork Grassland Services to deliver a new generation of precision grassland advisory, combining cutting-edge technology with practical farm expertise.

As agriculture continues to evolve, our mission is to help farmers use better data and better advice to maximise grass utilisation and improve farm performance.

The Role

The successful candidate will work directly with dairy farmers to support their grassland management and grazing planning.

Using remote grass measuring technology, you will analyse grass growth data and translate this into clear, practical advice for farmers each week.

You will help farmers plan their grazing rotations, manage grass supply, and make better decisions throughout the grazing season.

This is a farmer-focused advisory role, combining data analysis, grassland expertise and strong communication skills.

Key Responsibilities

Analyse grass growth data

  • Upload and manage remote grass measuring data
  • Interpret grass growth trends and paddock performance
  • Monitor grass supply and demand on farms

Work with PastureBase Ireland

  • Upload and manage grass measurement data on PastureBase Ireland
  • Analyse farm grass growth performance
  • Support farmers using PastureBase to improve grassland management

Provide weekly grazing advice

  • Work weekly with dairy farmers to develop grazing plans
  • Support farmers with grass allocation and paddock management
  • Assist farmers with grazing rotation decisions throughout the season

Support grassland planning

  • Develop weekly feed budgets
  • Help farmers maintain appropriate grass covers
  • Assist with spring rotation planning
  • Support mid-season grazing management decisions

Communicate with farmers

  • Contact farmers weekly to discuss grazing plans
  • Explain grass growth trends and management decisions
  • Provide clear, practical recommendations

What We’re Looking For

We are looking for someone with a strong interest in grassland management and dairy systems who enjoys working with farmers and solving practical problems.

The ideal candidate will have:

Education

Minimum Level 8 degree in Agriculture

Experience

  • Strong background in grassland management
  • Experience using PastureBase Ireland
  • Knowledge of pasture-based dairy systems
  • Understanding of grazing management principles

Skills

  • Strong analytical ability
  • Good communication and advisory skills
  • Ability to explain technical information clearly to farmers
  • Strong organisational skills

Personal qualities

  • Passion for grassland and grazing systems
  • Self-motivated and proactive
  • Comfortable working with farmers
  • Interest in agricultural technology
